KIK Lithuania, together with Team Lithuania, participated in the North American Lithuanian Business Forum (NALB) for the second consecutive year. This time, we actively contributed to the program by organizing a joint panel discussion on the significance of the creative industries in a global context.
Representing the fields of music, design, dance, film, game development, and other creative sectors, we—together with our partners—aimed to strengthen international cooperation and highlight the role of creativity in economic growth, social inclusion, and well-being.
One of the forum’s highlights was the discussion “Arts on Prescription: An Innovative Approach to Well-being and Social Change”, which explored how the arts are increasingly becoming a tool for mental health support. Massachusetts is the first U.S. state to implement an “arts on prescription” program, enabling doctors to prescribe artistic engagement as a remedy for loneliness, anxiety, or depression. This initiative marks a new intersection between creativity, medicine, and community engagement.
The session featured Laurynas Žakevičius, board member of KIK Lithuania, Jonas Liugaila from The Critical, among others, and was moderated by Erik Holmgren from the Mass Cultural Council.
During the visit, we also met with creative leaders and faculty at institutions such as MIT Media Lab and Berklee College of Music, where we exchanged experiences and laid the groundwork for future collaborations. Special thanks go to Augustina Vaiginytė, a student at Berklee, whose support enabled valuable meetings with professors.
