CCIs are the key to revitalising regions!

The 6th Regional Policy Forum took place in Plungė on the 29th of August. One of the three themes of the event was “Creative industries – can they help regions achieve economic transformation?” The panellists were Director of NKIKIA Edita Sabalionytė, Director of Culture of Vastra Gotaland (Sweden) Katti Hoflin, Deputy Minister of Culture Vygintas Gasparavičius, Deputy Mayor of Neringa Narūnas Lendraitis, and representative of the community Miško uostas Šarūnas Savickas. The discussion was moderated by Rytis Zemkauskas.

The Forum highlighted the potential of the cultural and creative industries (CCIs) to transform regions, create new jobs, foster social cohesion and make communities more attractive and competitive. CCIs also contribute to attracting talent, fostering innovation and long-term economic sustainability. Experts highlighted the need to develop creative hubs, to promote cultural entrepreneurship and to develop the infrastructure to allow creativity to flourish in the regions.

The panellists presented experiences from regions in Lithuania and abroad to show how CCIs contribute to the development of local economies and social life. CCIs can and are succeeding in becoming a sustainable and long-term solution for regional development.
